Days Between Dates Calculator

Exact days, business days and weeks between any two dates.

About this calculator

This calculator measures the exact gap between two dates and expresses it several ways at once: total calendar days, business days (Monday to Friday), weekend days, whole weeks, and a years/months/days breakdown. That covers almost every reason people count days — from project deadlines and notice periods to contract durations, pregnancy weeks, or how long until an event.

The business-days count is what sets this apart from simple date subtraction. Payment terms, shipping estimates, legal filing windows and payroll cycles are usually quoted in working days, so the calculator walks the calendar day by day and excludes Saturdays and Sundays. Note that it does not remove public holidays, which vary by country and region.

There's a subtle but important choice built in: whether to count the end date itself. Ask 'how many nights is this hotel stay' and you exclude the checkout day; ask 'how many days do I have to respond' and you often include the final day. The include-end-date toggle handles both conventions so you get the answer that matches your situation.

Everything runs locally in your browser, so the dates you enter are never uploaded or stored. To go the other direction — adding a length of time to a date to find a future or past date — use the date calculator instead.

Frequently asked questions

How are business days counted?

The calculator counts every weekday (Monday through Friday) in the span and excludes Saturdays and Sundays. It does not subtract public holidays, since those differ by country and region.

Should I include the end date?

It depends on the question. For durations like hotel nights, leave it off. For deadlines where the final day counts, turn on 'Include end date'. The toggle lets you match either convention.

Can I count days across leap years?

Yes. The calculation uses real calendar dates, so February 29 in leap years is handled automatically and the total remains exact.
