Currency Converter

Convert between 20 major world currencies using live mid-market rates.

About this calculator

Exchange rates move every second, so a currency converter is only useful if the numbers are current. This tool fetches live mid-market rates the moment you open it and shows the exact time they were last updated, so you always know how fresh the figure is. No rates are hardcoded or cached from days ago.

The mid-market rate — sometimes called the interbank rate — is the midpoint between the buy and sell prices that large banks quote each other. It is the fairest, most neutral rate to reference, which is why news outlets and comparison sites quote it. Bear in mind that banks, card networks and money-transfer services add their own margin on top, typically 0.5% to 3%, so the rate you actually receive when you exchange money will be slightly worse than the mid-market figure shown here.

Use the converter to check the real value of a price abroad, sanity-check a transfer quote, or split a foreign bill. Enter an amount, pick the two currencies, and the result plus the exchange rate and its inverse update instantly. The swap button flips the pair so you can see the conversion both ways.

Frequently asked questions

Are these exchange rates live?

Yes. Rates are fetched from a live exchange-rate feed each time you load the page, and the last-updated timestamp is shown beneath the result so you can confirm how current they are.

What is the mid-market rate?

It is the midpoint between the buy and sell price of a currency pair on the global market — the fairest reference rate. Banks and transfer services add a margin on top, so your actual rate will differ slightly.

Why is the rate I got from my bank different?

Banks, credit-card networks and money-transfer providers apply their own margin (usually 0.5%–3%) and sometimes fixed fees on top of the mid-market rate. This converter shows the mid-market rate for reference only.

Which currencies are supported?

20 of the most-traded world currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CNY, AUD, CAD, CHF, HKD, SGD, INR and more.
