Salary to Hourly Calculator

Convert pay between hourly, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and annual.

Formula

Annual = Hourly × hours/week × 52

About this calculator

Job offers and paychecks rarely quote pay the same way. A recruiter might mention an hourly rate, a contract might list a weekly figure, and an offer letter usually states an annual salary. This converter puts every one of those figures on the same footing so you can compare apples to apples in seconds.

The math is built around a single anchor — your annual pay. From an hourly rate, annual equals your hourly wage times the hours you work per week times 52 weeks. Once the annual number is known, every other period follows: divide by 52 for weekly, by 26 for bi-weekly, by 12 for monthly. Change the direction and it works in reverse, so an annual salary can be turned straight back into an hourly wage.

Example: $25 an hour at 40 hours a week works out to $52,000 a year ($25 × 40 × 52). That same $52,000 is $1,000 a week, $2,000 every two weeks, and about $4,333 a month. Adjust the hours-per-week field to match part-time or overtime schedules and the hourly conversion updates accordingly — these figures are gross pay, before tax and deductions.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert an hourly wage to an annual salary?

Multiply your hourly rate by the hours you work each week, then by 52 weeks. For example, $25 per hour at 40 hours a week is $25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000 a year.

How many work hours are in a year?

A standard full-time schedule of 40 hours a week over 52 weeks is 2,080 hours a year. Change the hours-per-week input to reflect part-time or overtime schedules.

Is this gross or net pay?

All figures are gross — the amount before income tax, insurance and other deductions. To estimate what actually lands in your account, use a take-home pay calculator.
